Why this mold remediation company exists
Rusty Tweed’s wife was ill for a long time before anyone worked out why. Fatigue, headaches, the kind of symptoms that get attributed to stress because every test comes back clean. Their house was a hundred years old and nobody had thought about it.
She is a registered nurse. She ran a mold test on the house herself, and the levels came back through the roof. Behind the old plaster there was hidden moisture, the attic lumber was damp, and an HVAC drain was leaking into a crawlspace they did not know the house had.
Then came the part that turned a personal problem into a company. Looking for a way to treat the house without demolishing it, she found a fogging technology used in medical environments to treat surfaces that cannot be dismantled. Almost nobody was applying it in homes. Combined with source removal, HEPA cleaning, moisture correction and containment, it became a complete system rather than a product.
Rusty later wrote a book on the methodology, drawn from the jobs that followed. The company puts its own completed work across two states at more than a thousand jobs; that is their figure rather than an audited one, and we would rather label it than quietly round it up.
The company started in California and grew up in Florida
What Florida required
- A regulated industry, with licensing that California does not have

What California allows
Almost nothing. There is no state license for mold remediation and no mandated residential clearance standard. Anyone with a spray bottle can call themselves a remediator, and their own certificate of completion is legally sufficient.
That gap is the reason the clearance step here is written the way it is. Florida’s discipline came back with the company, and it was kept on purpose in a market that does not ask for it. The Florida operation still runs as Mold Zero in the Tampa Bay area; this site is the Los Angeles County company.

It is the line the company organizes itself around, and it is the reason the free inspection exists at all. A method that kills mold is the easy half. Finding the water that made it, saying so in writing, and then telling somebody the answer is a plumber rather than us, is the half that decides whether you see us again in two years.
Questions about the company
The business has operated since December 2018, and the company’s own figure for completed work across two states is more than a thousand jobs. That number is theirs rather than an independently audited one, which is why it is written that way here.
The National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors is a trade certifying body. In a state with no licensing requirement, a certification is a voluntary standard rather than a legal one, and it is worth knowing the difference. It is not a substitute for somebody independent reading the result at the end, which is the part that actually checks the work.
